Hello, I’m Jonny Shutz. I was born in upstate New York and grew up north of Boston in a costal town. I became involved in music at an age of just 6 years old when I performed as Daddy Warbucks in our kindergarten play. I also started taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and eventually picked up the Saxophone, Clarinet, and Guitar by High School. It was then that I decided Music was my passion and took a lead roll as Riff in the school play West Side Story. I also became involved in the Band, Chorus, Chamber Choir and became the Drum Major for the marching band. I felt that singing was my strong suit so I auditioned and was accepted to the Umass Amherst school of music. I only remained at Umass for a Semester and felt more inclined to venture off on my own to experience life outside of school and focus on a career of sales. In doing so I had also shelved my music career. Fast-forward 10 years. I was living in Western Massachusetts and I stumbled back on to a path of music through my friends convincing me to come out and sing Karaoke. My main music influences throughout my life had been primarily classic rock, modern rock, blues and jazz. I had an honest distaste for country and folk. At first, I stuck to classic rock songs that I loved but were honestly out of my Baritone/Bass vocal range. Then people started telling me my voice sounded like Johnny Cash. At first I was flat-out against When I got to Vegas I continued to sing karaoke and eventually made some connections in the local music industry. Since moving here I have performed on the Strip at Bill’s Gambling Hall a couple dozen times as Johnny Cash. With such an impressive cast of highly talented performers, I am honored and feel that being invited to perform in “Remember When?” will become the pinnacle of my career. Thanks for taking a moment to read my bio! |
