My name is John Brooks and I began my Elvis career at the early age of 8 when I won my first talent contest singing "Blue Suede Shoes". I spent all of my teenage and growing up years in the mid-south which gave me that southern drawl that Elvis Presley had. It didn't take me long to figure out that I could sing just like Elvis Presley. Over the next few years, I began learning all of Elvis's greatest hits from the Rockabilly 50's, 60's, 68 Comeback Special and all the way into the Las Vegas Jumpsuit era. I now perform over 300 of Elvis's songs by heart. Early in my career, I came to Las Vegas and in 1994 I landed a gig singing full time at the "Pioneer Club" on famous "Fremont Street". The venue was cut short due to the beginning of the renovation of the "Fremont Street Experience". I continued playing a few gigs in town at the "Sahara" and "The Elvis Presley Museum". I also kept busy with a few weddings and conventions until my big break came in 1997. I landed a full time gig on Beale St., in Memphis, TN at a nightclub called "Legends on Beale" where I played for 3 hours a night until 2001, when the club closed down. Beale St. was the true home of the blues and where Elvis got his inspiration to become a great singer and performer. I was honored to be able to play hundreds of shows there on Beale St., where it all began for Elvis. After playing "Legends on Beale" for four years, I played a few casinos in Tunica, MS such as "Sam's Town" and "The Hollywood Casino". I also played nameless amounts of casinos throughout the mid-south which kept me busy for the next few years. One of my proudest accomplishments was when I was cast in a show at the famous "Shreveport Memorial Auditorium", the place where Elvis first stepped foot on stage there to play the "Louisiana Hay Ride". After many more years of playing all over the mid-south, I felt it was time to head back out to Vegas to once again perform for some of the best fans in the world. I am honored to be part of Brain's wonderful, upcoming production "Remember When?" I look forward to meeting each and every one of you! Thank ya, Thank ya very much. |
